David Greed studied at the Royal College of Music, London. In 1978 he was appointed Leader of the newly formed Orchestra of Opera North becoming the youngest leader in the Country. He has appeared regularly as soloist, both with the Opera North Orchestra and with other orchestras throughout the region. In 2007 he visited Oslo for a three-week period as guest leader of the Orchestra of the Norwegian Opera. He has recorded The Lark Ascending (Vaughan Williams) for Naxos with David Lloyd-Jones and the Orchestra of Opera North. This recording was used as part of the soundtrack to the movie Man on Wire, winning a BAFTA and an Oscar for Best British Documentary Film in 2008! He plays on a violin by JB Guadagnini owned by the Yorkshire Guadagnini 1757 Syndicate.
Simon Lindley Educated at Magdalen College School, Oxford and at the Royal College of Music, Simon’s early career was centred upon music-making in London and St Albans. Dr Lindley is active in many spheres of Yorkshire’s musical life and well-known for work with choirs and bands additional to organ playing as soloist, accompanist and orchestral organist. He served for over forty years as Master of Music at Leeds Minster and as City Organist being named as Organist Emeritus by church and city in September 2016 and August 2017 respectively. Last year he celebrates forty years of service with St Peter’s Singers of Leeds and twenty with Halifax-based Overgate Hospice Choir.
