“A voyage of the soul... conceived as a kind of parable on our troubled contemporary world.” - George Crumb
Join Manchester Collective as they journey to the heart of darkness, performing two string quartets by masters of the craft, conjuring up twin visions of a world tearing itself apart. Black Angels is a show about darkness, but also, about light. From George Crumb’s ethereal “God Music” to the unforgettable melodies of “Death and the Maiden”, this is a programme full of arrestingly unique and beautiful work.
This tour represents a radical departure from the world of traditional classical recitals - audiences will experience Black Angels in gothic cathedrals, major concert halls, and in a one off midnight set at internationally heralded nightclub, The White Hotel.
Adam Szabo, Managing Director of Manchester Collective says: "This show brings together two epic pieces of music. George Crumb described his electric string quartet 'Black Angels' as "a voyage of the soul", while Franz Schubert simply named his piece 'Death and the Maiden'. Both are pretty incredible works." Join us on tour, as we bring this tour de force programme to blistering life
