The Britten-Shostakovich Festival Orchestra is a unique organisation that offers young musicians of conservatoire age in the UK and Russia a rare shared cultural experience. Originally born out of a joint initiative celebrating various artistic and scientific disciplines, the Orchestra is expected to continue and develop as a regular annual feature in the musical calendars of both countries.
The Orchestra’s Artistic Director is Jan Latham-Koenig, the first British-born conductor to have ever held a senior titled position at a Russian opera company, at Novaya Opera. He will be joined by Siberian born pianist Pavel Kolesnikov, one of the most exciting young artists performing today.
Please note, this event is not part of the 2019/20 Leeds International Orchestral Season.
