Fri 28 September 2018 - Thu 31 January 2019
Brodrick Exhibition Space, Leeds Town Hall.
Leeds Festival Chorus, with the City of Glasgow Chorus and Cantabile Choir, presents a touching and personal tribute to their ancestors who served during the First World War, and to the staff and patients at Leeds' main war hospital at Beckett Park.
To mark the Armistice of 1918, the choruses perform Britten's War Requiem with the BBC Philharmonic and soloists on Saturday 17 November. Find out more about the concert.
The curator of the exhibition is Richard Wilcocks, who sings bass with Leeds Festival Chorus. He explains: “I asked as many singers as possible to burrow around in their family histories, and used my digital archive from when I was researching my book Stories from the War Hospital in 2014. What I received was personal, intimate and compelling”.
This exhibition is part of The City Remembers programme.
Please note that Leeds Town Hall hosts Civic celebrations and ticketed and private events. As such, access to exhibition spaces may be restricted during stated opening hours. Please contact Leeds Town Hall Reception on 0113 378 6016 to ensure viewings are available.
